Tortoreto Baby Friendly, dedicated to our youngest guests
Tortoreto Baby Friendly is a project ideated by the Tortoreto Hoteliers Association to celebrate the city's natural suitability as a welcoming place for families with children. It has been awarded the Pediatric Green Flag (which identifies the best child-friendly beaches in Italy) by a team of specialists and certified 28 times with the Blue Flag of Europe. The story of Marina,
the children's mermaid
Our mascot, designed to entertain children during their stay with music, choreography, gadgets, and colorful graphics around the city.
Not long ago, on a warm summer evening illuminated by the full moon, a sweet and small mermaid named Marina played among the waves of our sea with shells and curious little crabs that enjoyed tickling her tail.
While playfully teasing an octopus, she was drawn by the lights along the coast and the laughter of children playing, dancing, and singing with their mums and dads at the beach resorts.
“How much joy and what a delightful scent,” Marina said as she looked at a restaurant by the sea.
“I want to see what happens down there,” Marina said.
She slowly approached the shore and arrived on the beach. A child saw her and exclaimed to his friends in surprise, “Look... a mermaid!” All the children went towards Marina, happy and curious.
“So mermaids do exist!” one of them exclaimed.
“Of course...” Marina replied. “But not everyone can see us... Only those who believe in the magic of dreams!”
Marina, amused by so much attention, then recounted her fantastic adventures with her fishy friends, and the children shared all the wonderful things about their vacation in Tortoreto – the games, walks, parties, and music. Marina understood why the children were so happy, and from that moment on, she returned to Tortoreto whenever she could.
Every full moon night – even today – Marina returns to visit the children on vacation in our city.
